Jay Hollingsworth was born at Regan, North Dakota in 1912. He migrated to Portland, Oregon in 1928 and graduated from Washington High School. After high school, Hollingsworth attended Oregon Normal College for a couple of years after which he attended Oregon State College. In 1939 Hollingsworth joined the Portland Police Department and became a well-known and respected police officer. He retired in 1994. From the description of Papers, 1925-1999.
